The Animal Shelter and Hospital, Noida (Dhyan Foundation)

The Animal Shelter and Hospital in Noida takes care of Sick, Injured, Old, Infirm and Abandoned street animals from around the area. This is the largest Animal shelter in the entire National Capital Region. The Shelter functions 24/7 in three shifts, giving treatment and care to the animals admitted there. It presently has approximately 2,000 Sick and Injured, large and small animals that are undergoing treatment at the facility. They provide a dedicated helpline which is operational from 7am – 11 pm.  Additionally, they have three ‘Small Animal Ambulances’ that rescue the sick or injured smaller animals and bring them to the shelter for treatment or provide immediate treatment on the spot. The shelter facilitates over 1000 animal rescues and on-site treatments every month through these ambulances.

A line up of the animals at the shelter includes:

Dogs: 1100

  • 300 permanent dogs that were either abandoned, paralysed, Old and Infirm or came as pups and have grown up at the Shelter, so have no territory to return to.
  • 800 dogs undergoing treatment
  • 600 sick and injured dogs
  • 25 fully paralysed dogs
  • 90 semi-paralysed dogs who can drag themselves and some can walk
  • 40 puppies with accident injuries, sick or paralysed
  • 20 puppies with parvovirus
  • 20 dogs for surgeries

Cats: 70

  • 35 sick or injured cats under treatment
  • 35 kittens, abandoned cats and cats that have recovered

Large Animals: 500

  • 50   Cows, bulls and calves that are seriously sick or injured
  • 425 Under-treatment or Recovered Cows and Bulls
  • 25 Donkeys, about 15 of whom are permanently disabled.
