Indigree Angels Trust is a Delhi based NGO that works on the street and helps rescue, rehabilitate and heal injured dogs. They attend to the dogs around Safdarjung Enclave. Their work includes:
- Feeding 300+ dogs daily
- Running an ambulance service to administer treatment to dogs on the street.
- Vaccinating dogs against fatal diseases such as rabies, Parvo and Distemper.
- Operating a temporary clinic in Safdarjung Enclave where street dog caregivers can get their dogs for treatment (free of charge).
- Sterilisation of dogs in the surrounding area.
- Additionally, they are a very important resource for the feeders/ care-givers in the area who call on them to attend to dogs that are sick, injured, in their areas.
The team at Indigree is equipped to treat a wide variety of ailments, including diseases such as mange, scabies and other skin diseases, tick fever, maggots, injuries, broken legs and eye, ear and other infections and accident victims. 90 % of the dogs they look after are treated successfully on the street and the remaining 10% where their condition was not fit for recovery on the street are put into private medical boardings for healing where there is no risk of the dog catching further infections. In extreme cases dogs are taken to a vet for care.
The core team at Indigree is Jasjit and Anusheh. Their home doubles up as kitchen for making food, a clinic for critically injured dogs and a foster boarding for old dogs and puppies. Both Jasjit and Anusheh are accomplished paravets and administer expert care on the street. The wealth of experience they have gathered as paravets puts them at par with some of the top veterinary doctors in Delhi. They are assisted in their work by Pooja. It’s an all women team! Jasjit, the President of Indigree Angels Trust, has served on the Executive Board of The Animal Welfare Board of India (Ministry of Environment and Forests).
